The philosophy

Just as Professor Planas did with his students and protégés, every DECODED session is designed around practical, actionable change. Not ideas that are applauded and forgotten but tools that can be implemented the following Monday.

DECODED shares knowledge without filters and without hierarchy. So that every person involved in the patient experience, from clinic leadership, marketing, reception, patient coordination, the operating theatre, to recovery and follow-up, leaves with practical tools, new perspectives and a deeper understanding of a journey that does not belong to one department. It belongs to the entire organisation.

And it is for everyone: for the residents still developing their understanding of the business and for the surgeon with decades of experience who knows there is always something they can understand better.

Because what Professor Planas understood before many others remains one of the industry's most uncomfortable truths: the greatest threat to a clinic committed to excellence does not always come from outside. It can come from within, from what we do not know, from what we do not share, from the questions we never ask because no one has yet created the space in which to ask them.

That space is DECODED.

DECODED was born from a conviction Professor Jaime Planas left with everyone fortunate enough to learn alongside him:

"Do not fear competition. Fear incompetence."

Those six words contain an entire philosophy. Generosity is a competitive advantage. Transparency as a method and the belief that sharing what we know does not make us weaker. It strengthens the profession, and raises the standard. And ultimately protects the patient.

Professor Planas lived by this principle long before anyone needed a term for it: he opened the doors of his operating theatre, he showed others his techniques, he trained the surgeons around him without holding anything back. He understood that true excellence is not protected by hiding it. It becomes stronger when it is taught.

DECODED brings that same conviction to life through the congress.
